Welcome to the MinnEESI blog!

The Minnesota Elder Economic Security Initiative

MinnEESI is led by the Minnesota Women’s Consortium and four key local partners: Minnesota Legislative Office on the Economic Status of Women, Department of Human Services, University of Minnesota Center on Aging, and the Minnesota Community Action Partnership.

We are supported by two national partners: Wider Opportunities for Women, Inc. (WOW), and the Gerontology Institute at the University of Massachusetts-Boston

MinnEESI is a multi-year project, national partnership effort that combines coalition building, research, education, and advocacy at the community, state, and national levels.

MinnEESI seeks to:
– change the public dialogue from one of elder poverty to one of economic security;
– influence the development and evaluation of policies and programs;
– provide a framework to guide the decisions of elders and their families; and
– Ultimately, ensure economic security for elders so that all may age in place with dignity.

MinnEESI provides a conceptual framework and concrete tools to shape public policies and programs. We promote the economic well being of older adults, whether or not they have the capacity to be fully self-reliant or are in need of certain services.
